Hello! I’m Ellie Burel, a graphic designer and ceramicist currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. I have a BFA in studio art with an emphasis in graphic design, and I started making ceramics consistently about nine years ago, but I have a deep love for all kinds of art and I’m highly inspired by the world around me. I started ebb as a way to expand my practice beyond what I currently know and love. I’m a highly emotive person who loves to pour that into my work, so I wanted to leave room for my creations to grow alongside me. Like a current, I hope it will continually fold in on itself with constant regeneration of the same thing.
I’m highly inspired by Dieter Rams, and the idea that good design must be functional, beautiful, and simple. Sometimes great art is intricate and over the top, but sometimes it’s just a nicely kerned word, or a great handle on a mug. Good design is one of the easiest ways to incorporate joy into your everyday life–it can be a spiritual experience in the simplest way–and I feel passionately about helping incorporate that into people's lives.
I welcome a conversation about how I can fit into your organization. Feel free to download my resume, and if you have any questions or would like to get in contact with me, you can email me at ellieburel@gmail.com, find me on Instagram @eb_b_shop, or write a note on my contact page.
